Main characters:

  • Nanami Takahashi– the main girl, also known as Nana, which is really confusing as Yano’s previous girl was also Nana;
  • Motoharu Yano – the main guy, also known as Moto;
  • Masafumi Takeuchi – the friend of Yano, also known as Take;

ahh its one more of those.. well you know – “all lovey dovey, they are so all over each other, it will surely end bad” types of anime.  And its all that and even more.

When I started to watch it, I couldn’t stop. I remember I sat half of night skipping episodes to see what will happen next. And even if I didn’t find what I was looking for, I guess that is something we search for all of our lives, I was happy enough to find little (un)happy things that made this anime nice to watch.

Story line is plain simple: a young and shy girl falls in love with the most popular in school guy, and tries to get into contact with him. With some beginners luck and not so coincidental coincidences she actually becomes his girlfriend. But a bumpy road only starts – they have to face some serious couples’ fights, previous girlfriends+their sisters, misunderstandings, friends who are obviously better then the main guy and falls in love with his girl and more stuff like that. Well you know its like watching someones relationship without them knowing. Probably that is what attracts so much – we like watching how other people make the same mistakes as we do. And its always easier to judge them even though we act exactly the same without seeing anything wrong in it.

But even with the simple line this anime is not simple at all. Its full of deep and full emotions of realistic people (no some lolis with shooting double their size guns).. And I think its really coincidence that i write about this during Christmas (I started to write earlier but right now is one day after Christmas), because this anime is full of them. Full of snow and cold (which we lack this year) and that never ending question marathon what-to-give-him/her-this-year..

he pushed her to the floor – uncool

Though I can’t skip this anime without putting it side by side with Kare Kano which had the same thematic – love and relationship (and actually I was watching them both on the same time). But even if they have the same main idea – relationship between two people, Bakura Ga Ita will never outrun the comedy part of Kare Kano (though has its own charm on that, examples below), though Kare Kano will never be as realistic as Bakura Ga Ita. But that on the same time becomes the main reason I will always choose Kare Kano over Bakura Ga Ita (though they both are really good, and that is only my personal opinion, and beside the fact that I just flattered its realism and still would choose less realistic one). This anime would make a really great live action drama (which actually exists I believe, or at least live action movie), because of all that realistic atmosphere (and I would love to see Takeuchi.. yes I’m totally fan of him.. baka Yano). whenever and for any reason girl’s boyfriend tells her “I can’t abandon her” when talking about any other girl even if it is for a high purpose and so on, it always sounds the same “I abandon you for her”.. and she has a right to be selfish about it. Sometimes its really hard to understand and even harder to deal with, but a girl not always has to stand out, just because she is a girlfriend, just because she “must understand”, isn’t that a purpose of relationship when that person stands in front of others? shouldn’t she be the most important?

As promised some examples of comedy done right:
1. Example – learn English like never before.. children remember to watch your language!

2. Example – what happens when two boys get into one supply room../or the fall fashion show/or “we weren’t fighting”

so I guess that is all i wanted to say on this anime.
